Our department's vision is to match specialized training opportunities with officer's interests and the department's need. Commissioned officers meet the Missouri Peace Officer Standard and Training (POST) requirements and are certified by the Missouri POST Commission.
Command-level personnel attend FBI National Academy in Virginia, and Command Staff attend the FBI's Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar.

Academy Pay: $49,400.00 Annual
Post Academy Pay: $52,000.0 - $86,140.00 Annual

City provides $50,000 life insurance and $50,000 accidental death insurance
Long-Term Disability Insurance - 100% employer paid
Pension Plan
Employee Contribution: 3.1% of base pay per pay period
Employer Contribution: 6.9% of base pay per pay period
Retirement benefit is set at 60% of employee's last three years salary and can receive the full benefit after 30 years of service and 55 years of age.
Optional 457 Deferred Compensation / Retirement Account
The city matches the employee's contribution 100% up to 3%. Employee's can defer up to 25% of gross income dependent on regulatory changes with self directed investments.
Vacation Benefit: 12 days per year after 1 year
Sick Leave: 12 days per year, which can accumulate year to year
Personal Holidays: 2 days per year
Tuition Reimbursement
75% reimbursed up to $5,250 per year ($10,500 lifetime max) to cover cost of tuition and books in a field of study related to the employee's job.

Pension Plan
Full-time employees are enrolled in the Local Government Retirement System (LAGERS), L-6 Plan. There is no contribution by the employee.
To be eligible for regular retirement under the LAGERS system, an employee must have five (5) years of service and reached the age of 60 years or be an employee whose age and service total 80 or more. The benefit is calculated ay 2% X final average salary (last 3 years) X years of service = monthly benefit.
