A Note from the Director

The work of the Community Development Department impacts both the past, present, and future of North Kansas City. We help to plan for future development, issue permits and inspect ongoing projects, and ensure that existing buildings and neighborhoods are well maintained. A key element in our work is collaboration – with other city departments; with architects, engineers, and contractors; and with NKC businesses, property owners, and residents.

One way in which we collaborate is through pre-application meetings to discuss upcoming projects, from tenant improvements to new development. If you are interested in scheduling a pre-application meeting, or learning more about these meetings, please contact us at 816-274-6006.
