Practicing CPRYou never know when you may be faced with the need to perform CPR for a co-worker, neighbor, or even a loved one who is suffering a cardiac arrest.

The North Kansas City Fire Department has extended the invitation to teach Hands Only CPR at business workplaces in North Kansas City. They will provide a 20 minute presentation and instruction on Hands Only CPR. Participants will have the opportunity to practice their skills on manikins provided by the North Kansas City Fire Department. There is no certification associated with Hands Only CPR, but it is a skill that might enable you to save a life.

What is Hands Only CPR?

Hands-Only CPR is CPR without mouth-to-mouth breaths. It is recommended for use by people who see a teen or adult suddenly collapse in an “out-of-hospital” setting (such as at home, at work or in a park). It consists of two easy steps:

  1. Call 9-1-1 (or send someone to do that).
  2. Push hard and fast in the center of the chest.

Call Brenda Galassi if you would like to schedule Hands Only CPR training at your work place. We also encourage you to be aware of and download the Pulse Point smart phone app which is a new initiative to alert you when CPR is needed close by.
