New Service
To establish new service call City Hall at (816) 274-6000 during normal business hours to have water connected in your name. Bills are sent out near the first day of each month and payment is due between the 18th and 20th. The first bill will include a $50 residential or a $100 commercial deposit. The deposit will be applied to the final bill.
Electronic Water Bills
Residents can sign up to receive their water bill electronically. The electronic bill looks just like the bill a customer would receive in the mail. Residents may choose to receive only an electronic bill or receive both an electronic and postcard bill.
If you wish to sign up for an electronic bill, please send an email to utilitybilling@nkc.org from the email address at which you wish to receive the bill. You will receive your electronic bill from utilitybilling@nkc.org, so please make sure you add this address to your safe sender list. You will receive an email response to indicate that your request has been received.
We look forward to hearing from you about this billing option and questions can be answered by calling City Hall at 816-274-6000.
Moving?
If you are moving, please provide City Hall with the move out date and forwarding address for the final bill. The initial deposit will be applied to this bill. There is no disconnection fee and if there is a credit balance after applying the deposit, a check will be mailed to the forwarding address provided.
Late Fees and Shut Offs
Late notices are sent out around the 20th of each month and a late fee is assessed at that time. No arrangements or extensions will be made for late payments. If the bill is not paid in full by the end of the month, water service will be discontinued around the first of the month. The exact shut off date is stated on each bill. If water is disconnected due to a missed payment, there will be a $30 re-connection fee that must be paid in addition to the past due amount in order to restore service.
It is suggested that residents with financial difficulties dial 2-1-1 for the United Way of Greater Kansas City to identify assistance organizations. For organizations willing to assist residents with their utility bills, please complete the Charitable Utility Payment Pledge Form.
