Instructions for renewing a NKC business license online:
Important! The first time you visit the portal you will need to register using the email address that is associated with your business in our system. If you are unsure which email address is associated with your business, please email licensing@nkc.org to request verification.
First, you will need to register with the system.
- Click Here or open a new browser window and go to https://self-service.nkc.org/energov_prod/selfservice#/home
- Click “Guest” in the top right corner and select “Register” from the drop-down menu.
- Enter the email address that NKC has associated with your business.
- Check your email. The system will send an email to the address you specified. Click “Confirm” in the email to return to the portal.
- Fill out the remaining fields to complete your registration.
Once you are registered and logged in, click on “My Work” tab to bring up your business licenses as well as any invoices. The top business license should be your most recent one. If you do not have any licenses to renew in the My Work tab, then the email address you used is not associated with your business. Please email licensing@nkc.org to request verification of the email address that is associated with your business.
Next, click the “Renew” button next to it to begin the renewal process for 2025. Follow the process through including entering your gross volume/receipts for the previous year and verifying any contact information. Upload/attach the required documentation. If your business is located in Clay County, attach your paid business personal property tax receipt, your paid Clay County real estate tax receipt (if applicable), and Missouri No Tax Due Certificate. Review your information, electronically sign, and click “Submit.”
Once your application has been accepted, all documents verified, and the invoice paid, you will receive an email with your license.
