The City Clerk serves as custodian of all official records of the City. In this role, the City Clerk attends all regular and special meetings of the Council and records the actions of the City Council. The City Clerk also maintains all other official city records and documents and responds to requests for information. Other notable duties of the City Clerk:
- Prepares the official proceedings of Council meetings by preparing and posting meeting agendas. All agendas are posted on the website and at the public notice display area at City Hall a minimum of 24 hours before the start of the meeting.
- Maintains the corporate seal of the city and co-signs all checks drawn on the City Treasury.
- Serves as the election authority for the City. As such, the City Clerks accepts filings for elected offices, certifies election results, and administers the oath of office to public officials.
- Publishes all public notices.
- Certifies ordinances and resolutions.
- Certifies the validity of City documents for court evidence.
