Friday Greetings,

On Thursday, November 11, residents of the Gardens at Northgate honored Dennis Moyer. He served as a US Army Sergeant in the medical field that served in Puerto Rico with the US Navy during Viet Nam and later worked for North Kansas City from July 16, 1978 – April 15, 1987, as a Firefighter/EMT wearing badge  #74.  NKC Fire Marshal Chief Dan Williams and EMS Lieutenant and Purple Heart recipient Patrick Elson presented Mr. Moyer with his Veteran flag after being flown at Fire Station 1 this week in his honor.

On Friday, November 12, Officer Jones and Officer Gomez with the Police Department were recognized with a Lifesaving Award by the Metropolitan Chiefs and Sheriffs Association at the 50th Annual Awards for Valor Ceremony. Both officers assisted a potential drug overdose victim on May 23 by administering immediate first aid including a dose of Narcan, a nasal spray utilized in opioid overdose cases.  The officers continued first-aid care until the arrival of the North Kansas City Fire Department.

North Kansas City residents are now offered a special City-subsidized membership rate to the NKC YMCA.  This new program offers residents a monthly rate of $35 a month for individuals and $70 a month for families, along with multiple benefits.  For more information, see the flyer attached or visit KansasCityYMCA.org/NKC.

Artist Andrei Krautsou is currently installing the newest Tim C. Crummett Family Charitable Fund mural on the east wall of Exltube’s Bay 4 on Burlington Street.  This mural is expected to take up to two weeks to install and will require a lane closure on Burlington during the day to accommodate the equipment necessary to paint the mural.

The Equity and Inclusion Committee will be collecting letters to send to active duty military members and their families during the holiday season.  Letters will be collected at City Hall until the close of business on Tuesday, November 30.  The letters will then be sent to A Million Thanks for their annual holiday letter program.  For more information on the program, visit https://amillionthanks.org/.
