The first four new wayfinding signs were installed this week. These signs direct people to various destinations around town, including to public parking. The reverse side features “NKC.” The first four signs are located along Armour Road, in downtown, across from City Hall, near Richards Park, and near Macon Street. These signs were designed as part of the City’s gateway signage plan.

As of 4/7/21, North Kansas City Fire Department personnel had vaccinated 4,621 people at Operation Safe.

To accommodate the construction of the apartment building at 18th & Swift, the City had closed the eastbound travel lane between Clay Street and Swift Street and eliminated the parallel parking spaces on the north side of 18th Avenue to allow for the continuation of two-way traffic.  At its meeting of April 7th, the City Council voted to make 18th Avenue one-way westbound between Swift Street and Clay Street for the duration of construction, and to restore the parallel parking spaces that were lost as a result of the original action.

At its meeting of April 7, the City Council approved issuance of a revised Covid-19 emergency order, removing the prohibition on any gathering of more than fifty (50) people on City-owned property except for City sponsored events.

On Tuesday, May 25, the City Council will hold a virtual Special Council Meeting to discuss the City’s current development process.  This meeting will be live streamed on the City’s Spectrum Cable Channel 2, the City’s YouTube Channel and on www.nkc.com/live.  Public comment will not be taken during the virtual Special Council Meeting, but residents, business owners, other stakeholders are invited to review the City Council Work Session videos on the City’s Master Plan and development process and provide feedback regarding the future of the City’s development process.  To access the City Council Work Session videos focusing on the City’s Master Plan and development process, and to provide feedback for City Council review, please visit www.nkc.org/ED.

Operation Safe is vaccinating all eligible Missouri residents. We encourage everyone to complete the Operation Safe vaccination interest form at www.operation-safe.com/signup Please be sure to provide your primary phone number and email address on the interest form.
