Friday Greetings,

The Fire Department received a replacement reserve fire truck this week. The previous reserve truck, a 1997 E-One Ladder Truck, was involved in a traffic crash on August 23 and the insurance company declared it a total loss. This replacement reserve fire truck was purchased with the insurance payout on the totaled vehicle. The reserve fire truck serves as a backup vehicle should one of the remaining trucks need repair or scheduled maintenance.

The Clay County Public Health Center has named the North Kansas City YMCA a recipient of the 2019 Community Health Champion Award! This award recognizes the opening of the Marketplace Outreach Pantry that addresses food insecurity by offering healthy options at no charge to anyone in need of food.  Congratulations to the team at the North Kansas City YMCA and those who have supported the Marketplace Outreach Pantry that has impacted many individuals and families throughout the North Kansas City community.

“Bloom”, the public art sculpture by artist Sijia Chen, was installed on Wednesday, October 30 at Richards Park. Ms. Chen presented Mayor Stielow with a scale model of the sculpture for display at City Hall.  Crews will continue to work on the site for the next several weeks, installing lights and restoring the brick plaza. Landscaping will be installed in the spring.  Funding for this sculpture was provided by Tim C. Crummett Family Charitable Fund.
