Friday Greetings,

On Wednesday, a water main break occurred at Armour Road and Buchanan Street.  Water crews spent several hours trying to shut off valves to repair the leak.  The break was eventually isolated after the water plant line was turned off to allow for repairs.  The City’s water supply was shifted to the water reservoir during these repairs.  At approximately 7:30 p.m., the water main was repaired, and water service was restored.  Service interruption information was distributed via the City’s communications channels and flyers delivered to impacted residents.  The Clay County Health Department assisted during the water outage to notify restaurants of the actions required to maintain their safety standards.  Thank you to our water customers for your patience as we worked on emergency repairs to one of our major water lines.

City Clerk Crystal Doss was certified as a Continuing Missouri Registered City Clerk from the Missouri City Clerks and Finance Officers Association.  Congrats Crystal!

Join City Departments for A Night Out on Friday, June 28 from 6-8 p.m. at Macken Park.  You can check out department vehicles, enjoy free activities, and bring your bike in for a free safety check provided by Velo Garage.  After A Night Out, stick around for the movie “Ralph Breaks the Internet” sponsored by our very own Fire Department.

North Oak Trafficway north of 32nd Avenue will be closed on Saturday, June 29 starting at 6 a.m. and will reopen later in the evening. This closure is to accommodate the installation of a new waterline connection (weather permitting). The east entrance to Waterworks Park will also be closed– access to the park is available via the west entrance.

Detour signs will alert drivers to the closure on North Oak and help them navigate through the area. The detour route directs drivers to use 32nd Avenue and North Cherry Street. This closure is anticipated to last one day.
