Friday Greetings,

Last weekend, John Harbrucker, the City’s Director of Liquor Control, conducted random inspections of our licensed liquor establishments.  Two were found to be in violation of the City’s liquor ordinances.  Follow-up meetings with the two businesses are being conducted this week and future inspections are being planned.

North Kansas City Library’s Book Walk has been installed along the sidewalk on Howell Street.  Visitors can read Spunky Little Monkey and get a bit of exercise between pages.

The First United Methodist Church of North Kansas City has donated their bell to the North Kansas City Historical Society as the church building is being sold to the North Kansas City School District.  The bell was removed this week by Municipal Services crews and will be stored at the Street Barn until the permanent location for its display is determined.  The bell took a bit of creativity to remove as it was suspended and weighs over 400 lbs.

We had a great turnout to the Downtown Parking & Armour Road Bike Lanes open house meeting last night. Approximately 30 people shared their feedback for these projects. If you missed the open house, or know of interested persons, the parking strategies information and survey questions are available online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/NKCParking_Strategies.  We will also be sharing this survey link online and through our social media channels.

Today kicked off the Friday in the Park Concert series.  Each week features a different band and all concerts are free and open to the public.  This event is made possible by the Music Performance Trust Fund and Local 34-627.

We would like to welcome two new employees to North Kansas City: Bryan Gann will join the Water Department as a Maintenance Worker on June 4 and Stephen Merkys will join the Fire Department as a Firefighter/Paramedic on June 11.  Welcome aboard!
