...you are able to participate in Mid-America Regional Council's Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Program. The program allows residents the opportunity to properly dispose of their household hazardous waste at the City of Kansas City's HHW facility. The HHW facility is located at 4707 Deramus, which is located on the south side of the Chouteau Bridge. The program accepts, manages, recycles, or safely disposes of excess or unwanted household chemicals received from residents.
The HHW facility also has a Swap Shop, where residents can pick up reusable household chemicals that others have brought in.
The facility is open for drop-off of household hazardous waste from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, by appointment only. You may call (816)784-2080 to schedule an appointment.
The HHW facility accepts: automotive products, antifreeze, batteries, CFL light bulbs, fertilizers, flammables, fuels, hazardous cleaners, hazardous liquids, household cleaners, lawn and garden products, paint, pesticides, photographic chemicals, pool chemicals, solvents, thinners, and used oil.
The HHW facility does not accept: explosives, yard waste, commercial waste, pressurized gas cylinders, asbestos, tires, or appliances.
There is no charge for residents of the Regional HHW Collection Program. You must bring ID with proof of residency. A disposal fee is charged per vehicle for residents of non-participating communities.
