Friday Greetings,

Armour Road changes – At its May 19 meeting, the City Council directed staff to take steps to extend the westbound Armour Road right turn lane at Linn one block further west to Knox Street. Staff is currently working with the City’s engineer on plans to ensure these changes are done safely and efficiently. This work will be done in-house when plans are completed and is expected to occur in a few weeks.

Winter Sewer Averaging letters went out to residents this week. Residents (non-multi-family accounts) are eligible to change their sewer bills to match average consumption from December through February (January-March bills).  Please return the form to City Hall by Friday, June 12, or call if you would like to utilize this option. All accounts that do not opt-in by June 12 will automatically be an opt-out for this year. This will be offered on an annual basis.

City Offices will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observation of the Memorial Day holiday.

On Tuesday, May 26 and Wednesday, May 27, the Dagg Park Spray Ground will be turned on for annual maintenance.  The park will NOT be open to the public.  Staff will be checking the water features and system so the park will be ready to open when we are able to ensure our patrons' health and welfare; it will be ready to turn on with a flip of a switch.

Animal Vaccination Day will be Saturday, May 30 from 2-4 p.m. at City Hall. Free rabies shots for pets of residents of North Kansas City.  At that time, residents will also be able to get their annual pet license.  Licenses are free to all spayed or neutered pets; otherwise the cost is $5 per pet. Other vet services are available for a fee, no checks accepted.

The June 2 Municipal Election will be held at the North Kansas City YMCA.  However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the YMCA’s current state of re-opening, the election will be held in a different part of the facility than usual.  Officials from the Y have been coordinating with officials from the Clay County Board of Elections.  Signs at the main entrance will direct voters as to how to access the election site.
