Friday Greetings,

Fire Captain Gary Loftis has received the Fire Officer designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence’s Commission on Professional Credentialing. This is a comprehensive peer review process that recognizes individuals that demonstrate excellence in the fire and emergency services field. Gary is one of only 502 Credentialed Fire Officers worldwide. Congrats Gary!

After serving the City of North Kansas City for over 39 years – 5½ in Water Pollution Control and over 33½ years as a Police Officer – Officer Rick Landon will retire on Friday, January 3, 2020.  Officer Landon plans on remaining a Reserve Police Officer for the city.  Thank you for your service, Rick!

Incoming Chief of Police Kevin Freeman has announced the promotion of Sgt. Mark Smith to Major, and the promotion of Patrol Officer Chris Kimmel to Sergeant.  Congratulations!

The North Kansas City YMCA will be conducting an open house January 4-5 commemorating the five-year anniversary of its partnership with the City.  

There will be no work session on Tuesday, January 7, 2020.

Christmas tree pickup will be available on January 8, 15, 22. Trees must be devoid of tinsel, lights, and all items not originally part of the tree.  Place trees where you put yard waste. 

Burger King has now completely vacated its old building.  The building will be used for Fire Department training for a few days, after which demolition activities on the building will commence.  The site is slated to become the site of a Starbucks.

The last day for City Council candidate filing is Tuesday, January 21.
