City, County and State Actions

The health and safety of our community is our highest priority.  Staff is working with public health officials and emergency management professionals to monitor and adjust operations for the global COVID-19 or coronavirus outbreak.

In an effort to continue to protect our residents, visitors, and employees, and reduce the spread of the COVID-19, Mayor Stielow and the City Council and other government officials have conducted the following actions (in reverse chronological order):

(3/24/20) Playground, Athletic Court Closures

Due to the Stay at Home Order, the playgrounds at Dagg and Macken Parks, and the tennis/pickleball and handball courts at Macken Park, have been closed until further notice.  The walking trail, green spaces and wheel park in Macken Park are still open, but we urge visitors to use proper social distancing practices while enjoying outdoor activities.

(3/23/20)  Temporary Emergency Policy - Curbside Alcohol Delivery

Businesses that have a valid City Liquor License may now serve curbside delivery of packaged goods.  The following requirements must be followed:

  • Only packaged liquor can be delivered curbside
  • Microbreweries/bars are allowed to distribute/deliver new, sealed (not a refill by a customer) “growler or crowler” curbside in the same fashion as a packaged liquor license holder.
  • Absolutely NO OPEN CONTAINER curbside deliveries of alcohol.

(3/22/20) – Mayor Stielow and the Clay County Public Health Center Issue ‘Stay at Home’ Orders

Mayor Stielow and Clay County Health Center issued a ‘Stay at Home’ Order on Sunday, March 22, 2020.  These orders take effect at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, March 24 and remain in effect until Friday, April 24 unless and until it is extended, rescinded, superseded, or amended in writing.

These Orders require citizens to stay at home except for “essential activities” as our community continues working to slow the spread of COVID-19.  The COVID-19 virus is spread when someone who is infected, whether they know it yet or not, coughs or sneezes and shares respiratory droplets with others that they are in close contact with.
