Friday Greetings,

Join the Police Department on Saturday, May 29 for the next Coffee with a Cop.  The event will be held from 9-11 a.m. in the City Hall parking lot.  Our partner for this event is RoKC who will be bringing in the Cowtown Donut truck.  Free 6-pack of mini-donuts for the first 90 people.

Join Parks & Recreation for Movies in the Park tonight at dusk in Macken Park at the Festival Shelter. Tonight’s movie will be Disney's "Onward." Bring your blankets and chairs and grab a spot on the grass before the movie starts. 

City Administration Summer Intern Michael Gentry will start on Tuesday, June 1.  Welcome Aboard!

It’s block party season!  A block party is a great way to celebrate and encourage stronger communities.  North Kansas City residents may apply for a grant to host a neighborhood block party. Each grant will reimburse eligible expenses up to $200 per event. Bird Rides launched in NKC on Monday and Bird scooters are now available throughout downtown NKC. People riding motorized scooters like a Bird scooter may ride on the street or in bike lanes or cycle tracks in NKC, but motorized scooters are not allowed on sidewalks. On Wednesday, May 26, the Carry the Load bus visited the North Kansas City Fire Department on their way through Kansas City.  Carry the Load is a non-profit organization that provides an active way to connect Americans to the sacrifices made daily by our military, veterans, first responders, and their families.

City Offices will be closed on Monday, May 31 in observation of the Memorial Day holiday.

The first Friday in the Park Concert will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 4 at the Macken Park Pavilion featuring 5 Star Jazz Band.  Each week features a different band and all concerts are free and open to the public.  This event is made possible by the Music Performance Trust Fund and Local 34-627.

Help for local families struggling financially due to the COVID-19 pandemic is available through a program being administered by Clay County. The Emergency Rental Assistance Program can help families who rent their homes get caught up on past due rent and utility bills.  If you are eligible, make sure to fill out an interest form by clicking the button on our Rental Assistance Portal, which can be found here: https://www.claycountymo.gov/transparency/erap.
