Summary of Duties

Coordinates the efficient operation of the Parks & Recreation Center rentals and programs, provides support services for customers and staff, and assists in ensuring a safe environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs center opening and closing duties, including locking and unlocking building, securing funds, preparing rooms, and managing Center assets.
  • Prepares Center facilities for day to day activities, rentals, meetings, and special events, including assisting patrons with reserving facilities, processing deposits, setting-up, breaking-down of chairs and tables, supplying materials, and ensuring computer and AV equipment is available and in working order.
  • Monitors and maintains appropriate levels of supplies and materials in support of unit operations and activities.
  • Promotes and educates visitors on services, programs, and events that Parks & Recreation has to offer.
  • Performs front counter operations which include but are not limited to; answering the phones, processing registrations and rentals in RecTrac
  • Assists in the coordinating, implementing, and working of a variety of programs and special events offered at the Center, the Parks, and in the Community.
  • Assist with organization and cleanliness of the activity, rental, and catering kitchen areas.
  • Create and maintain a listing of vendors to support rental amenities, such as linens, catering, DJ’s, etc.
  • Possess a professional and positive attitude, excellent customer service, and be a team player.
  • Provides comprehensive customer service, including delivery of accurate, prompt, and courteous assistance on policies, guidelines, and standard practices to internal and external customers.
  • Acts as first responder to building accidents and injuries.
  • Assists with special projects and performs other assignments as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School degree or equivalent and two years customer service experience.
  • Must obtain and maintain current First Aid, AED and CPR and BBP certifications within 6 months of employment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

  • Basic knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and simple mathematical functions.
    • Knowledge of lifesaving and first aid methods and techniques.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to work courteously and effectively with other employees and diverse population.
  • Ability to act quickly in emergencies.
    • Ability to apply sound judgment, solve problems, make effective decisions, and act with integrity.
  • Ability to accurately organize and maintain paper documents and electronic files.
  • Ability to comprehend, process, and apply both verbal and written skills appropriate to the job.
  • Ability to use City resources effectively and efficiently.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Other Requirements

  • May be required to run, climb or balance; reach with hands and arms; sit; stand; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear; smell; use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Must be able to perform the manual labor tasks to prepare rooms for daily activities, rentals, and special events.
  • Work is performed in both an office environment and throughout the community.
  • May be required to lift, carry or move over 50 pounds, such as tables and chairs.
